It’s a double delight to have two books selected for the Spring 2023 edition of Best Books for Kids and Teens: Babble! And How Punctuation Saved It, and Izzy’s Tail of Trouble! Many thanks to the Canadian Children’s Book Centre for this superb resource!

THIS IS NO JOKE! I am thrilled to have two books nominated for this prize established to honour my very funny late colleague Joan Betty Stuchner. “The Joan Betty Stuchner—Oy Vey! —Funniest Children’s Book Award will be presented biannually to Canadian authors or illustrators of a picture or board book AND a work of juvenile fiction or non-fiction (i.e., lots of words) that had the jury most: buckled over with guffaws, incapacitated with giggles, and/or rib-ticklingly, side-splittingly, thigh-slappingly entertained.” See the full list of nominated books here.

I am thrilled to share the news that Sunny Days Inside and Other Stories has been selected as a 2022 “White Ravens” book by the International Youth Library, which aims to promote quality in children’s book publishing. This year, there were 200 notable children’s and young adult books selected, from 53 countries published in 37 languages, recommended to an international audience based on the universal relevance of the themes they address, their literary and pictorial qualities, or their innovative approaches or design.
